For thirty years the fix for a hard diagnostic case inside a great academic medical center was a person. Someone who had seen the pattern before, who knew which test settled it, and who would write you back in a paragraph instead of a reference range. Dr. Michael Laposata built that function three separate times, measured it, and published the results.
The reason it never spread was never the medicine. It was the plumbing. Getting a case from a physician in one organization to an expert in another, cleanly and legally, was harder than the diagnosis. That problem is now solved. 1health already runs HIPAA-compliant rails that move cases between organizations, and AI has cut the time an expert needs to review a case down to minutes.
So the bottleneck moved. What used to take a fellowship program and a hospital budget now takes a network. That is what we are building: a national roster of credentialed subspecialty experts, reachable by any physician, one case at a time.

Dr. Laposata built and ran diagnostic management teams at Massachusetts General Hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he chaired the Department of Pathology. His work is the reason the diagnostic management team is a recognized model rather than a local habit.
He has trained a generation of clinical pathologists and laboratory physicians who now run labs across the country. That network is where ExpertDx's signing experts come from.
